The new Sparkling Auto Care Centre Amanzimtoti

By combining traditional car wash and valet services with automotive repair services, Sparkling Auto Care Centres have carved a unique niche in the marketplace. The Sparkling Auto Care Centre franchise in Amanzimtoti, located at the Arbour Crossing Shopping Centre on Arbour Road, was established in 2010, but as the franchisee has since experienced a change in circumstance that has diluted his attention to the business, the franchisor has decided to bring this outlet back into the company fold. The purchase of the franchise as a going concern was funded by Kagiso.

Creating the Sparkle

Sparkling Car Wash was founded by Corné Gustafson in 1992 as a car wash and valet services business. Two important factors — service and speed/time — were identified as key success factors for operating a successful high volume car wash and valet venture. Five such high volume company-owned outlets were managed by Corné and his team in cities like Potchefstroom, Klerksdorp and Mmabatho.

In an era where most people are 'time poor', convenience is becoming increasingly important — even in the automotive appearance industry. It was with this fact in mind that Corné launched his new under-one-roof concept, where in-demand automotive appearance services would be offered alongside the standard car wash and valets services.

In 2006 Sparkling Auto obtained the license from the Ding King Training Institute in the USA and so Sparkling Auto Care Services (Pty) Ltd was established as one-stop-shop venue offering its various automotive appearances services under one roof. Since then the primary focus of the company was to franchise its unique concept, both its mobile unit and fixed facility models, and to grow the brand footprint across the country. This focus was recently revised to grow the company through company owned locations as well as through franchising.

Preference is given to applicants with prior automotive industry and/or business management experience.

With their focus on job creation and development all Sparkling Auto Care Centres staff receive in-house training. Sparkling is the only car wash and detailing company in South Africa to operate an internationally accredited training centre in association with The Ding King Training Institute (USA) — leaders in the field of cosmetic auto repair.
